Refined
2008 Art Below, Marble Arch Tube Station, London Underground, UK
2009 Fantastic Plastic, Sydney Opera House, Sydney Australia
Acquired by Museum of Design in Plastic, UK in 2009

Plastic bags are often disregarded, seen as disposable throw-away items in our modern day society that end up in landfill or polluting the landscape. Yet they are often made in beautiful and bright colours. I wanted to elevate the status of the plastic bag by lovingly hand-knitting and stitching the discarded bags, creating contemporary art works as well as functional handbags.

Versions of Refind were exhibited in the Marble Arch tube station, London Underground, using billboard space to display images of the artworks. Refind was also exhibited in the Sydney Opera House in 2009.

A version of Refind was acquired in 2009 by the Museum of Design in Plastic, Bournemouth, UK.
