Goulburn's gift to the ACT Chief Minister to celebrate Canberra's 100th Birthday
In March 2013 Goulburn celebrated 150 years as a City. Located an hour from Canberra, Goulburn became Australia’s first inland City when Royal Letters Patent issued by Queen Victoria on 14 March 1863 established the Diocese of Goulburn. St Saviour's, as church then cathedral, has been a place of worship and ministry since the 1830s.
Geoff Kettle, Mayor Goulburn Mulwaree Council on behalf of the people of Goulburn commissioned a gift to present to the ACT Chief Minister and the people of Canberra to celebrate and acknowledge Canberra's 100th Birthday in 2013.
